That leaves just four-and-a-half months to get an extra 9,000 signatures.

Simon Beardsley, chief executive at the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, which is spearheading the campaign with the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) and Institute of Directors (IoD), said: "Even if you already work in an area which has good broadband, this is a chance to support the wider community.

"You can also help those which operate in the so-called 'not spots'."

To support the campaign, visit www.onlincolnshire.org. Alternatively, you can fill in a form from either the Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce, the FSB or IoD.

The initiative is part of Lincolnshire County Council's wider plan to bring next-generation broadband to the county by 2015.
