“My bike was stolen from outside the YMCA earlier in the year. The culprit was caught on CCTV cutting the lock off. Unfortunatley my bike was not insured away from my property which is my own fault. Police have the CCTV footage but I have never heard anything from them and I doubt I will ever see my bike again! Remember, use a D Lock, try and lock your bike in an area covered by CCTV (seem to be everywhere now!) and above all make sure it is insured by either a stand alone cycle insuance policy or on your house contents policy. Be aware on some home contents policies your cycle is only insured against theft from your property and not away from your home, a pitfall I fell into!”

“Being a victim of a bike theft it would be nice to get it back, however I think mine ended up on the back of a white flat back van with someone shouting SCRAP, I see some good qualitity bikes being hauled up on them wagons, why would someone get rid of a perfectly good working bike. Maybe they should be checked before being put in the weighing machine”
