It is a further boost for the city’s unemployed, after July saw the first dip in those claiming Job Seekers Allowance in Lincoln since 2011.
Octavian says it is already starting to recruit people to help marshal the Christmas Market.
Tony Mellor, commercial director and head of human resources, said applications are already coming in.
“We are looking for safety stewards and security officers," he explained.
“Security officers will need have to have an SIA license, and for stewards we are looking for people aged 18 or older who are fit, smart and local.
“We staff a number of events all year round and more importantly, some of these could lead to employment on other sites.”
Mr Mellor added that the roles could also lead to some permanent jobs.
“It is not just temporary work; we have got this contract for three years.
“If we get good people we are always willing to consider them wherever we can, and it is possible we may be able to offer permanent security offer positions.
“What we need are local people with local knowledge to interact with visitors and give proper customer service rather than just safety and stewarding."
He added: “We are already working with the TA in Lincoln and Lincoln Army Cadets and the university as well, but we are really happy to hear from anyone who can fit into these roles.”
The company already has around 750 staff who help man events across the UK.
