£14k more needed to fund life-changing surgery for Sleaford boy, 11
A YOUNG boy from Sleaford is a step closer to fulfilling his dream to carry out everyday activities that he currently finds difficult.
Joel James’ family have been fundraising to raise the £50,000 needed for him to travel to America in July to have Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR) Surgery.

Joel, 11, has spastic diplegia cerebral palsy which means that even the simplest tasks, such as climbing stairs, getting into the car or even putting his socks on, have become a struggle.
But to make this possible £50,000 is needed. So far £36,000 has been raised.

Mother Karen said: “We now have £36,000 due to some generous anonymous donations coming through. We have had a very busy weekend with a family party night at the football club, Swaton Vintage Day and a quiz night.”
There are still fundraising events being planned, including Elite Fish and Chip shop which is hosting a special ‘saver event’ on the weekend of June 30 and July 1.
It is offering 20 per cent off the restaurant bill plus haddock and chips for £3 on takeaway.
All profits will be going to Joel's Quest.
