£1m investment for walking and cycling infrastructure
Up to £1million will be invested in new and existing infrastructure following a six month walking and cycling audit of the LN6 area.
Eight key areas have been identified as proposed locations for infrastructure improvements.
These include Station Road, Newark Road, Doddington Road, Mill Lane, Lincoln Road and Hykeham Road, the link from De Wint Avenue to the Riverside Path, The Junction (Moorland Avenue) and the links through Birchwood and Doddington Park.
Improvements include the potential for new cycle paths, removal of hazards, vegetation cutback, widening existing facilities, resurfacing, new signage and more.

Over the next few months the Access LN6 team at Lincolnshire County Council will work closely with partners and the public to develop the improvements.
£1m has been secured through the Access LN6 programme which is funded by a £4.9m grant from the Department for Transport.
Cllr Richard Davies, Executive Member for Transportation at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "Access LN6 will invest £1million to improve walking and cycling infrastructure in the LN6 area between now and March 2015.
"We've already identified eight key locations for improvement and we will be prioritising these, alongside a large number of smaller projects, in the next few months."
Members of the public can see the results of the walking and cycling audit at an informal drop-in event hosted by Access LN6 on Wednesday 2 October, 4.30pm – 7.30pm at Ruston Sports & Social Club.
People living or working in the area are encouraged to drop in at any time to find out more about Access LN6 and the plans to improve sustainable transport in the area.
The information event will showcase improvement plans for Hykeham Station, information about bus services, benefits to schools and businesses, results of the walking and cycling audit, sports and activities in the area, and much more.
There will also be a chance to ask questions to the panel, try a hirebike and see the winning entries of the 'Name a hirebike' competition.
