All 8,000 council homes in Lincoln are getting mains powered smoke detectors
All 8,000 council homes in Lincoln will soon have mains powered smoke alarms.
With just 200 installations remaining, the City of Lincoln Council, working with Aaron Services, aims to have the new devices in all of its properties by Christmas.
Graeme Twell, gas contract surveyor at the council, said: “We are currently making contact with all our tenants to let them know our plans.
“Having these alarms hard wired means tenants will not have to change batteries on a regular basis and will even work in a power cut thanks to a back-up supply.”
Council tenants are being asked to arrange a time convenient to them to have someone come around and install the new smoke detector system.
Colin Boyd, contracts manager at Aaron Services, said: “Smoke alarms are life-saving devices that provide crucial extra time for people to escape in the event of a fire.
“With this in mind we would like to hear from any tenants that do not have a smoke alarms in their property so we can install one.”
Any council tenant who has not already had a new smoke detector installed should contact Aaron services on 01522 873683.
