93-year-old man from Grantham area dies after crash on A153 near Sleaford

A 93-year-old man from the Grantham area has died following a road traffic accident yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the A153 at Speedway Corner, in Ruskington, at about 1.40pm following reports a Toyota Corolla had been in collision with a Vauxhall Meriva.

The Toyota driver, a 93-year-old man from the Grantham area, and his 77-year-old passenger wife were taken to Nottingham's Queen's Medical Centre.

The driver died a short time later and his wife remains at the hospital with serious injuries.

The four Ruskington people in the Meriva did not sustain any injuries.

The road remained closed until about 8.15pm while the damaged vehicles were recovered and police carried out their investigations.
