Acar's all-carp net lands him the winning weight at Tattershall
Ruskington Club Match
Last Sunday's match in this series was held on Moon Lake at Tattershall and while the majority of the 10-man field struggled for fish, the top two weights were impressive.
Best weight on this occasion went to the consistent Tom Acar who drew noted feeder peg 15.
Acar fished an excellent match casting his feeder really tight to the far bank.
He baited with polony and pellet and his all carp net of 130lb gave him a comfortable victory.
Runner-up last Saturday was commercial ace Dean Smith from noted end peg seven.
Smith (Lincoln Whisby AS) fished polony tight to the island and he was rewarded with an all-carp bag of 78lb 13oz.
Mark Bond (Lincoln Whisby AS) was third on the day at peg 17.
Bond fished meat on the method feeder to the island for 33lb 8oz.
Kev Ridley (Whisby) finished in fourth spot.
Ridley, on peg 19, fished maggot on the pole for silverfish that took the scales to 13lb 4oz.
Next week's match is on Marsh Lake. To book your spot contact Barry Gadsby on 01400 273384 or turn up for the 8.30am draw.
Dynamite Baits / Scunthorpe & D.A.A. Thursday League
The River Trent at South Clifton is still low a clear due to the lack of rain plus the abstraction of water to fill the reservoir at Newton on Trent.
The match was fished on a 7.9 metre high tide that ran off till the last hour of the match.
Odd Barbel where caught on Trent Lane in the deep water, plus a carp was lost on the waggler in the Power Station car park.
It was mostly perch and dace that were caught on the waggler and it was strange that no roach were caught on the whole of the match length this week.
The best weight of the 18 anglers that fished this match was Grimsby rod Dave Ashmore who enjoyed a good slice of luck to take the honours. Ashmore fished the maggot feeder at peg 12. He had a perch and a barbel of 9lb for a final weight of 9lb 7oz.
Brigg AC rod Dave Padley was on peg six and he too snared a barbel.
Padley fished bronze maggot on the waggler where he mainly caught perch, a barbel of 5lb 8oz boosted his weight to 8lb 7oz.
The consistent Roly Moses finished third on the day from his draw at peg 43 in the Car Park Section.
Moses (Brigg AC) caught perch and dace on the waggler for 6lb 14oz. Jim Evans on peg 40 was fourth overall from peg 40 with 6lb 10oz also caught on the waggler.
Rushfield Saturday Open
Last Saturday's match at Rushfield Lakes at Potterhamworth turned out to be a family affair, although the winners didn't have the best of days.
Lincoln Whisby AS rod John Small was once again tempted off the rivers to fish a match on this lake and just like last time, he won the match.
Small had to concede that he is not geared up for this type of fishing. While he managed to land eight carp he lost a further nine carp and broke one of his best rods while playing a fish.
Small was on peg two where he fished meat on the feeder, his all-carp net of 23lb gave him victory on the day.
Runner-up in this match was dad Mick Small on peg 28 and he too had a mixed day.
Small senior also fished meat on the feeder and he eventually put 20lb of carp onto the scales to take the runners-up spot but he also lost several good carp and managed to snap a pole section too.
In-form Brian McKeown finished in third place last Saturday.
McKeown was on peg 26 and he too fished meat on the feeder. He finished just short with a net of 19lb 12oz of carp.
Barney Todd Open
Thimbelby Lake Two hosted this match last Sunday and due to the poor weather there were fewer anglers in attendance than normal.
For those anglers that did brave the elements there was some good sport to be had.
It was a blustery day with on and off rain but that didn't stop Paul Clayton from catching fish.
Clayton, on peg three, switched between banded pellet on the feeder and corn on the pole.
His all-carp net took the scales to a healthy 83lb 12oz which was easily enough to take the honours.
Bridesmaid on this occasion was Richard Hall at peg seven.
Hall fished meat on the pole for a carp bag of 59lb 3oz. The consistent Dave Daniels took third place from peg 17.
Daniels (Ruskington) fished meat on both the pole and the feeder for a tally of 55lb 9oz.
There were only 14 anglers that turned out last Wednesday when the Veteran Section held a sweepstake match on the tidal River Trent at Laughterton.
Those that stayed away probably made the right decision as the river fished terribly with low weights being recorded and some anglers failing to weigh in.
The winner on the day was John Pacey who drew noted barbel peg 31.
Pacey fished the feeder with worm and caster. He had one barbel and a few bits for a match winning 4lb 1oz.
Nev Doughty was on peg 42 and he decided to fish the groundbait feeder with caster and worm.
Doughty caught a few perch and roach for a final bag of just 3lb 4oz.
Tony Pickering was third on this occasion from peg 40. Pickering also fished the feeder where he too caught roach and perch for a net of 2lb 12oz.
Just 1lb 3oz was enough to take fourth spot in the match. Barry Giles managed this weight at peg 35 that he took on the waggler.
Rushfield Midweek Open
Roger Woolhouse won this match last Wednesday at Potterhamworth.
Woolhouse (Garbolino/Harrisons Lincs County) was on peg 19 where he switched between fishing paste and double corn on the hook.
His all carp net of 40lb 8oz gave him victory on the day. Once again Brian McKeown framed. This time McKeown was at peg two and switched between prawn, pellet and meat on the hook for 35lb of carp.
Pete Jubb also kept up his recent good run of form by finishing third with 28lb 8oz taken at peg 20 by fishing meat. Pellet and punched bread on the pole.
Harrisons Tackle AC
Harrisons Tackle AC have been out and about over the past few weeks.
Three weeks ago they visited Hallcroft Lakes at Retford and fished a match on Moat Lake.
On this occasion it was the consistent and in-form John Barningham that took the honours.
Barningham was on peg 34 where he opted to fish the bomb with meat and pellet for a carp net of 80lb 7oz.
Runner-up at this match was Paul Munroe at peg 43.
Munroe switched between the bomb and the pole for a bag of 59lb 13oz.
Peg 47 saw Daniel Fox secure third spot. Fox also switched between the pole and the straight lead for 31lb 15oz.
Last Sunday Harrisons Tackle AC visited Messingham Sands near Bawtry where they fished Island Lake. Daniel Fox on peg eight was the eventual winner.
Fox started off catching carp on the bomb but later in the match switched to fishing corn in the margins for 69lb 11oz.
Second place went to Steve Mills who had drawn peg 10.
Mills fished pellet on the bomb for a carp bag of 61lb 14oz. Stewart Millar was third overall at peg six.
Millar caught carp and tench on the bomb and pellet waggler for 49lb 4oz.
Locklands Open Match
Last Tuesday's match was won by Alan Shepherd at peg 21.
Shepherd (Torksey) fished soft pellet at six metres over micro's.
He mainly caught carp and the odd tench for a match winning 37lb 1oz.
Bridesmaid last Tuesday was Neil Barratt at peg four. Barratt also fished the six metres pole and fished soft pellet and meat on the hook over a bed of micro's.
He caught carp to 4lb for a final bag of 36lb 14oz.
Kevin Broad was on peg six and he finished third on the day. Broad fished the method feeder to the island and then switched to the margins with worm for 30lb 4oz.
Last Saturday the match was won by Pete Mullet at peg 15.
Mullet fished pellet in the margins where his best fish was 8lb for an overall net of 42lb 6oz.
Neil Barratt finished as bridesmaid for the second consecutive match this time from peg two.
Barratt fished at 14 metres to the island with meat to catch carp to 3lb before switching to the margins for a carp, bream and tench bag of 40lb 13oz.
Kevin Allen was third on the day from peg nine. Allen fished maggot and pellet in the margins and eventually took 34lb 5oz of carp and tench to the scales.
