Actor Richard Todd, most famous for his role as Guy Gibson in the Dambusters, has died at his home in Lincolnshire.

The 90 year-old actor had a long and varied film career, including The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men and The Hasty Heart.

He also served in the military during the Second World War and parachuted in to France ahead of the D Day landings, a role he reprised in the film The Longest Day.

He died at his home near Grantham yesterday.
