Adelaide signal their title intent by thrashing Burtons by five goals

ADELAIDE set out their ambition for the title with a convincing 5-0 win over Burtons FCW.

Martin Goldacre bagged a hat-trick for his new club while Ollie Burrows grabbed a brace.

AFC Hykeham enjoyed a 4-2 victory at Scothern in their first game in the Premier Division.

Wragby began their season in style with a 3-1 success over South Clifton in Division One.

Division Two saw a glut of goals with 25 scored in three matches. Railway Inn Thorpe led the way with an 8-1 thumping of Vulcan FC, with Rick Wheatley and Andy Anderson both netting a pair.

County Hospital Club were 6-4 victors over Claytons SS and Ruskington Raiders beat North Scarle 5-1.

Ruston Eagles had hat-trick hero Andy Man to thank in their 6-2 victory over Cherry Willingham, while Victory Athletic matched the scoreline in their 6-2 defeat of FVA Jerusalem Reserves with a brace each from Karl Hutchinson, Paul Nicholson and Dave Curtis.

Lincoln Imp went one better, beating Woodhall Spa 7-2. Phil Harrison's grabbed both goals to give Cross AFC a winning start to their Division Four campaign. Heighington were 3-0 winners against Witch and Wardrobe while a last gasp save by Jack Wilson earned Trent Valley all three points as they beat Dunholme 2-1.

Performance of the day came in Division Five as Liam Wright's magnificent seven goals inspired Peter De Wint to a 9-0 drubbing of The Shed.

Poachers were also in the goals, scoring six without reply against Greenbank, while Travellers Rest overcame Newtoft Terriers 4-1 with James Slater netting two.

Wagon & Horses Branston lead the way in Division Six, as they were 5-2 victors over Welton. Kal O'Melia scored twice in AFC Golden Eagle's 4-2 success over Birchwood Leisure.

This weekend saw the first round of the County Sunday Cup, a prize that has eluded a Lincoln side since 1998. Jake Keyworth bagged three in FSC Victory's 8-1 thumping of Ingleby Arms (Marton). Joe Ayers also grabbed a hat-trick for Ivy Tavern as he came off the bench to stake a claim in the starting 11 in his side's 6-2 win at the Bull. Chris Funnell, too, had claims for the matchball in Hunters Leap's 6-2 success over Bassingham in the all-Lincoln tie.

Two penalties from Rob Kinsella ensured Swan Athletic would be in the next round as they defeated Brigg Servicemens Club 4-0 while Metheringham were 4-0 winners against Fenway.

FVA Jerusalem ended the 2008 finalists Welton S&SC's interest in the competition with a 3-2 penalty shootout win after the score ended 2-2.

Another side to require penalties were Dynamo Varsity who won their shootout 2-1 against No 2 Pub from Grimsby with the scores at 1-1.

Other Lincoln sides to go through to the next round were Horncastle Town, Anglers AFC, Bailgate Athletic, Royal Oak Washingborough and Nettleham.
