Sam Lowes insists he has plenty of time to reel in World Supersport leader Kenan Sofuoglu, but accepts a positive result at Aragon this weekend is key to his title hopes.

Lowes has enjoyed a terrific second full season at world level, winning one race and scorching to four pole positions, writes Mark Whiley.

However, the Lincoln rider suffered a setback last time out at Misano when a crash saw him finish 18th and fall 30 points behind two-time champion Sofuoglu.

Lowes insists he is over that disappointment and is determined to clinch his second win of the campaign at Aragon in Spain.

"I was disappointed with what happened at Misano," said the Bogdanka PTR Honda rider.

"We had a few little problems in the race, then I pushed too hard and crashed."

"But I'm 100 per cent over that now and I'm looking forward to Aragon.

"I've got good memories from there. I qualified third there last year and then finished a close second in the race.

"It's a circuit that suits my style. The first half of the lap is quite twisty while the second half is fast.

"The bike and the team are great, I couldn't be happier, and we're looking for a win this weekend."

Lowes says beating Sofuoglu's Kawasaki is a priority this weekend.

"In terms of points we're only a race win behind Kenan and there's a long way to go in the championship. We can still do it," added Lowes, who trails PTR Honda team-mate Jules Cluzel by eight points in second place.

"But it's important we finish ahead of Kenan. He's the man to beat as he's been there and done it before.

"There's pressure on me, but no more pressure than I put on myself. I'm feeling confident."

“All the best of luck to both twins whatever classes they are each racing in. As a Lincoln motorsport fan I try to catch both of them racing on TV as often as possible. Like wise with Jack Harvey in the British Formula3 racing. Its great to see local lads doin so well.”

“I know my comments may sound odd now hornet68 but when the story was originally published they had Alex competing in World supersport instead of Sam hence my comment. The Echo have since corrected the name and my comment sounds stupid.”

“It would be nice to see Alex in World Suoersport as well as Sam but sorry Echo it isn't so. Please get your facts right. I know they are twins but for heavens sake. Good luck in Aragon Sam!”
