On the eve of the season's penultimate round, the Lincoln rider predicted he could break his win duck during the BSB Showdown.

And he delivered in stunning fashion by winning both of Sunday's races after clinching pole position on Saturday.

His victory in race two has been hailed as one of the greatest in British Superbike history after he held off Shane Byne and Josh Brookes.

Two-time champion and current series leader Byrne led going into the final corner, but a last-ditch move saw the WFR Honda rider take the win.

"I was happy enough with a win in the first race so to do the double is mega," said Lowes, whose wins saw him move up to third in the standings.

"On the last lap I knew I could turn in tight and I managed to get down the inside of Shakey (Byrne).

"We just scraped into the Showdown so I am still taking it one race at a time and we will see if we can do the same again at Brands Hatch."

Not only has Lowes' form thrust him into title contention, it has made him in-demand for 2013.

WFR are keen for him to remain with them, but the 22-year-old is eager to move up to the world stage one day. He could also have options with other leading BSB teams.
