Three of the season's cup finals have now taken place and one saw Cherry Knights complete a league and cup double as they lifted the Amateur Cup.

For their opponents, Ivy Tavern, they are once again left with no silverware after promising so much.

The final took place at Lincoln Moorlands and the two sides could not be separated after extra time with the score at 2-2. But it was the villagers who held their nerve in the penalty shoot out to win 4-3.

A cup double was also achieved by Market Rasen Town who saw an own goal by a Fulbeck United player present them with the inaugural Richardson Trophy and then they lifted the Horace Franklin Cup with a 4-1 victory over Horncastle Town.

In the league, it would appear, once the management committee has sat, that FC Rustons United will be runners-ups without kicking a ball after their final opponents, Market Rasen Town, were unable to fulfil their final fixture.

Ivy Tavern moved into third position as they hosted Fulbeck United in their final home game and won 3-1 with goals from Billy Munro, Darren Walker and George Brown, while Nathan Selby netted for Fulbeck.

The only other game saw Horncastle Town end their season on a high with their second league double as they beat Blacksmith FC 7-3.

Horncastle's scorers were Andy Shackleton (2), Dave Anderson (2), Jack Baxter, Harry Hackney and Jake Shelbourn.

For Blacksmiths it was the first time they had scored three goals in a game and the first time a player had netted twice in the same game as James Knowles bagged a brace along with one from Joe Rossington.

The season saw Blacksmiths concede 346 goals in 25 games at an average of 13.8 a game, but credit to them as they never once defaulted on a fixture.

Another game should have been played but Pride FC, who should have hosted Cherry Knights are still under Lincs FA suspension and the likelihood of their two outstanding games being played are remote.

There is one league game now left to be played with Fulbeck United due to meet Waddington United next Saturday.

Victory for Fulbeck could lift them to fifth, while Waddington seem resigned to finishing fourth.

Cup finals still to be played are both taking place at Sincil Bank on Saturday May 15.

The Sleaford Quality Foods Ltd sponsored David Cooper Cup final (kick-off 2pm) sees an all-Lincoln final as FC Rustons United take on Ivy Tavern.

Then, at 6pm, Cherry Knights go for a treble as they meet Fulbeck United in the final of the Hoare and Gridley sponsored Village Trophy final.
