YOUNG entrepreneurs are to share the knowledge and expertise of a Horncastle businessman.

James Vestbirk of Inspire Business has been selected to represent the East Midlands as part of the national Enterprise UK Ambassador Network.

Each of the six chosen ambassadors will share their knowledge, passion and expertise with some of the region's budding business people by visiting schools, leading workshops and mentoring.

Enterprise UK's ambassador manager Eimear Hale said: "We have a great network of ambassadors across the UK, but until recently, we didn't have many from the East Midlands.

"We wanted to recruit a range of business people from all of the East Midlands counties, from young entrepreneurs to those with established businesses and lots of experience to draw upon."

The East Midlands Ambassadors were identified through a mixture of research, suggestions from contacts and media coverage.

Although not the biggest or most profitable businesses in the region, the ambassadors chosen have transferable skills and inspiring stories to pass onto young people.

Each potential ambassador was given an information pack to give more information about themselves as well as how they would like to be involved.

They were then questioned about supporting the youth and education sector to international enterprise initiatives like Global Entrepreneurship Week or undertaking speaking opportunities throughout the year before the final six were chosen.

Eimear Hale said: "We're always looking for enthusiastic and inspiring individuals with a desire to present young people with inspiring new options, particularly if they are interested in particular campaigns or activities such as social enterprise and shaping enterprise policy.
