Ambitious Gainsborough Trinity bid for strike ace Damian Reeves
Gainsborough Trinity have put a deal on the table for one of the hottest properties in non-league football.
The Blues are trying to convince last season's Blue Square North's leading marksman Damian Reeves to spearhead next season's promotion push.
Free agent Reeves is reported to be attracting the interest of a number of Football League clubs after scoring 44 goals for Altrincham last season.
Trinity assistant boss Lee Warren says the club are not giving up the chase but said the player's ambitions may lie at a higher level.

"It is no secret that we are looking to increase our options up front," said Warren, who has been managing football affairs at Gainsborough while boss Steve Housham is on holiday.
"If the player has already reported on a social network site that we are interested, then I suppose I can say that we have been talking to him.
"We would like to bring him to the Northolme and we have made him a very good offer.
"He has a very good package in front of him, but I believe he wants to play league football.
"I can't blame him, as a player you want to play at the highest level you can."
"From what I am hearing, he is favouring a higher level and he has a number of options.
"We can only keep our fingers crossed."
Gainsborough just missed out on promotion to the Blue Square Premier last season, with defeat against Nuneaton in the play-off final.
After releasing striker Leon Mettam in the closed season and the departure of Ryan Kendall to North Ferriby, the Blues have lost some of their firepower.
"I think we are a bit light up front," added Warren.
"We have Paul Connor and Darryn Stamp but after that the strikers are quite inexperienced.
"Sam Mulready and Jordan Thewlis have been looking sharp during pre-season, but they are not very experienced at this level so we probably need to address that."
