Although he has a long background in pubs and restaurants, he admits he is not sure how things will go at Christopher's.
But he is confident the business will be a success and will bring in all kinds of customers from across the community.
"It will be good for the community and for Lincoln as well," he said.
"It's a new start at the moment.
"I don't know what it will be like – we are coming in blind a little bit."
His aim is to introduce food and more live music at the venue. It will not need a facelift as it underwent a major refurbishment this year.
The venue's owner Admiral Taverns says Mr Dickinson has the background to make the bar a success.
Brewery area manager Mark Lonsdale said: "It's a great opportunity for him. He is going to maintain it as a gay-friendly bar."
