THE sound of roaring engines filled the air in Spilsby as hundreds turned out for the town's annual bike night.

The event, now in its fifth year, drew in bike enthusiasts from Lincolnshire and beyond with some travelling from places such as Matlock, Derbyshire and Wisbech to take part.

The market place was filled with motorcycles and trikes ranging from the 1930s up to modern superbikes and visitors of all ages were drawn in to take a look at some of the many impressive machines.

Organised by Peter and Lisa McDowell from AE Wildman's in Spilsby, donations at the event will also be handed over to the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

Peter said: "The event was even better than last year because of the sunshine, it really brought everybody out and we were overflowing with bikes, everywhere was full.

"Most of the shops stayed open which helped to get everything going.

"Spilsby bike night seems to be popular because of the layout of the town, people are walking round the one big circle and they like it which shows in the volume of people that attended."

Entertainment on the evening was provided by Stephen Frankish and friends, which help add to the atmosphere of the event.

Plans are already under way for next year's event. For information, call 01790 753219.
