Antique centre nominated for top award
AN antiques centre in Lincolnshire has been nominated for a prestigious national award.
Hemswell Antiques Centre has been shortlisted for the prize by the country's leading antiques magazine.
It is the second year running Hemswell, which has the largest selection of antiques dealers in Europe, has been shortlisted for the award.
Now local residents and customers are being urged to help Hemswell to victory by voting in the online poll.
Hemswell is one of only 25 businesses across the whole of the UK to be shortlisted in the Best Antique Centre category by the Homes and Antiques magazine. Last year the centre
near Gainsborough narrowly missed out on the top spot but was named as one of the top five.
It caps a busy and successful year for the centre, which houses items from around 300 dealers from the UK, France, Australia, Ireland and Spain in its three centres at a former RAF base.
Late last year Hemswell's managing director Robert Miller launched a Japanese language website and undertook a trade mission to the Far East.
New sites for China and Korea are planned for later this year. Hemswell has also launched a smart phone app so buyers can browse wherever they are in the world.
"The nomination is fantastic news and is testament to the hard work of all the staff who are so committed to making the experience for customers a very rewarding one," said Mr Miller.
"It's particularly pleasing to be nominated for the second year running because consistency of service is something we pride ourselves on.
"It really puts the icing on a great year for Hemswell. We are working very hard to make it a global business. We recently had buyers from as many as 20 different countries through our doors in one week.
"Of course the more visitors we attract the better it is for the whole county. We are proud to be part of Lincolnshire and the award would be another positive step in encouraging people to come here and see what a fantastic county it is."

Voting closes on 28th February.
The business in each category with the most votes will be announced at The Decorative Antiques & Textiles Fair in Battersea, London, on 25th April.
The centre sells a vast range of period furniture, paintings, porcelain, silver, lighting, kitchenware, mirrors, jewellery, books, prints and a unique collection of clocks.
An extensive selection of good useable antique furniture, such as bedroom suites and dining tables and chairs, are also available. Buying these means not only do you get to use them every day, but you are sleeping and sitting on your investments.
Items can be browsed and bought online at www.hemswell-antiques.com .
