SIR Alan Sugar would have been proud of talented young people from Lincolnshire who took part in an Apprentice-style challenge.

A group of teenagers aged 14 to 19 took part in the FunKeySkills Challenge event hosted by Lincolnshire County Council's School Improvement Service and Progressive Educational Tools (PET).

PET, a training and digital delivery organisation in Coventry, helped create the programme, which aims to help young people develop skills needed for business success.

Councillor Patricia Bradwell, portfolio holder for children's services at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "This programme has given a number of young people a taste of what they can achieve and enjoy and will boost their confidence."

Brandon Fixer, a learner at the event who took part in a graduation-style ceremony at the University of Lincoln on Friday, said: "It has been more fun than sitting at home being bored in the holidays."
