The event presented the organisers with a huge challenge but, with true military precision, the day unfolded like clockwork.
Unsung heroes included the hard-working team from St John Ambulance, who were kept very busy as the young athletes pushed themselves to the limit of endurance.
As the event came to an end, and well-earned prizes were handed out, the satisfaction of the participants was hard to miss.
One cadet said: "It's been quite difficult and a lot of competition" and "it's been mental".
Daniel, the 800m winner, described what winning a gold medal feels like: "It feels really good. It's a great achievement, words can't really describe the achievement, but it's brilliant!"
Overall Championship winners were the North East team, followed by Eastern region.
