Arran Brindle helps England to third place at Women's World Cup in India
Louth cricketer Arran Brindle and her England team-mates have salvaged third place from their Women's World Cup campaign in India.
Holders England, who saw their hopes of reaching the final crushed earlier this week, beat New Zealand by four wickets in this morning's third place play-off in Mumbai.
Set 221 to beat the Kiwis, a century by skipper Charlotte Edwards saw England cruise to victory in 47 overs.
All-rounder Brindle played her part too, taking two for 38 with the ball before scoring a brisk 27 in her side's successful run chase.
