Automotive Bodywork Inter-College Triumph
First, third and overall winners, a fantastic result on their first foray into competition for Lincoln College's Automotive Bodywork Team.
The competition held at Chesterfield College on the 12th June was between Chesterfield's three level 2 learners and Lincoln's team of three level 1 learners, Joe Nicholson aged 16, Darryl Pyart aged 17 and Callum Grundy aged 17.
An hour was allowed for task one, which was a metal finish; removing a dent from a car panel without the use of filler. Task two was to be completed in 1 ½ hours and was a plastic filler repair: repairing a dent using plastic filler and preparing the panel for priming.
Joe was awarded 1st place and Darryl 3rd giving Lincoln College the overall win. Prizes had been donated by Motor factors in the Chesterfield area.

David Gregory, bodywork tutor at Lincoln College commented: "A great success for all that took part. To see the students represent the College in such a professional manner and to have pride in what they achieved was reward enough, to come away with a trophy was a bonus. It was also a great opportunity to meet other tutors and exchange ideas. I would like to thank Paul Sewell and the Bodywork Team at Chesterfield College for hosting the event".
The event was sponsored by the Royal Academy of Engineering and it is hoped that it will grow to become an annual fixture with teams from colleges across the region.
