As she sang an English version of Edith Piaf's Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien, the cheering crowd leapt to its feet.
Her popularity mirrors that of last year's runner-up Susan Boyle.
Janey, who is twice widowed, is a mum-of-seven, has 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She will next appear in a semi-final show at the end of the month.
