Barbel and perch give Steve Gilbert a winning 25lb catch at Laughterton
WHISBY ANGLING SUPPLIES TRENT SERIES
ROUND four of this series took place last Saturday on the Tidal Trent at Laughterton. Recently skimmer bream have been the dominant species, but in this match mainly perch were caught, with the lucky few having some barbel to boost their weights.

First place went to Steve Gilbert (SPRO Lincoln Whisby) from peg 34, who landed three decent-sized barbel and around 13lb of perch on the groundbait feeder with worm hookbait to record a weight of 25lb 3oz.
John Hackney (Whisby Angling Supplies) also fished the groundbait feeder at peg 32 to take second place. He also had three barbel, the biggest tipping the scales at 8lb, and some perch to weigh in 21lb 9oz. Third place went to Dean Smith (SPRO Lincoln Whisby), who drew peg 40 and had a mainly perch catch of 10lb 7oz.
Fourth was Malc Firmstone (Garbolino Harrisons Lincs County), who also caught mainly perch for 10lb 4oz.
Dean Smith and John Small are joint leaders of the series with an impressive 26 points out of 28. Dean, partnered by John Hackney, also leads the pairs competition, on 27 points.
TIDAL TRENT TEAMS OF FOUR
Round three of four was held last Sunday on the Tidal Trent at Besthorpe, Dunham and North and South Clifton. Eighty anglers took part, with many using this series as practice for the Division One National in August.
Individual winner on the day was Rob Hewison (Mark One White), who drew fancied peg 27 at North Clifton where he landed barbel to 10lb, bream and a few perch to record a bumper weight of 53lb 6oz. Rob used a blockend feeder with maggots on the hook for his catch.
Besthorpe peg 57 produced the second-placed angler in John Bates (Mark One Black), who caught three barbel to 8lb, one bream and a few small fish on the groundbait feeder. Third was D. Brookes Junior (Maver Barnsley C), who caught a net of roach on the waggler and maggot from peg 17 at Dunham.
B. Bates (Mark One Red) and P. Moutrey (Scunthorpe) were joint fourth with 13lb 6oz each from peg 26 at North Clifton and peg eight at Dunham respectively.
Team winners on the day were Matlock with 27 points, with SPRO Lincoln Bladesy second on 31 points and Scunthorpe Tackle and Kamasan Starlets A joint third on 33 points.
Shakespeare lead the league with 10 points. In close pursuit are Kamasan Starlets A with 11 points and Garbolino Harrisons Lincs County with 12.
MOON LAKE / WINDMILL TACKLE OPEN
This week's open match was held on Manor Lake Tattershall, where once again the venue was in fine form.
Winner on the day with a weight of 144lb 4oz was D. Hankin, who caught on the method feeder and pellet from peg 22. Second was Paul Harsley (Daves Peg), taking a net of 135lb 12oz to the scales. Paul caught on his favoured pole method with pellets on the hook. Third was Pete Andrews (Windmill Tackle), who fished paste down the track to record a weight of 127lb 8oz.

RUSKINGTON CLUB MATCH
Sunday's Ruskington club match was held on Manor Lake Tattershall.
Seventeen anglers took part in what turned out to be an excellent match with no fewer than 12 competitors weighing in excess of 50lb.
First on the day and a regular winner at the venue was Paul Harsley (Ruskington), who weighed in 144lb 4oz from peg 20, fishing the pole with pellets at 18m over to the island.
Second was Trev Tute (Ruskington), who finished with 125lb 12oz from peg 17. Half of his weight was caught on the feeder and the other half was from the margins, with meat being used as the successful bait on both methods.
Third from peg 23 was Matt Barker (Dave's Peg), who fished the feeder with maggots to put 108lb 8oz on the scales.
Fourth was Dave Daniels (Ruskington), who used the feeder with meat for a weight of 93lb 14oz from peg four.

LINCOLN VETERANS
Twenty-nine members of Lincoln Veterans fished in a sweepstake last Wednesday at the old lake at Mill Dam Fisheries Girton.
Mick Barrat headed the field. Drawn on peg 27, he landed a mixed net of fish for a weight of 55lb 1oz, alternating between the pole and feeder and using pellets and maggots on the hook.
Second was R. Cook, with 51lb 7oz caught on the pole baiting with sweetcorn. Ted Wroe landed 35lb 5oz for third place from peg 24 where he caught on the pole using meat and pellets. Fourth was Danny Breslin on peg 29 with a weight of 31lb 15oz.
