Chris Sutton's renovation of Lincoln City's squad continued today after he offered Khano Smith a short-term contract.

The Imps boss has been impressed with the winger, who is on trial at the club following his release from Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls.

The deal, which would run until January, is dependent on securing international clearance, but City remain hopeful there will be no hitches to deny Smith his move into English football.

Sutton says the Bermudan international – who boasts two pages of You Tube videos detailing his time in America – has plenty of good attributes that could make him a valuable asset in League Two.

"Khano has certainly impressed me in the last 10 days," said Sutton (pictured below).

"He's direct, he has a good attitude to training, his fitness levels are good and there is definitely potential there.

"He has a trick and he can go past people, so weighing it all up, he certainly has something to offer.

"Of course, there are aspects of his game he has to work on and he knows that.

"But what impresses me about him is that he wants to learn and he is willing to work.

"Offering him a contract until January gives us a good chance to work with him further – whether he will stay beyond that is something we will then assess.

"But it's a good opportunity for him."

“So now that Khano has left the squad - what were your overall impressions during his loan spell?”

“Bittercodhead, obviously you've been around for all 125 years - so surely you remember when the players played for the sport and not for the cash or flash.

Yeah our Cup is a bit off from the rest of the worlds - but I like to think of the regular season as the regular season, and then the top 8 teams qualify for the cup (which is after the regular season). We don't have wildcards as they do in Baseball and Throwball - but we do have 4 cup spots that are guaranteed for the best teams in the "division" (2 from the east and 2 from the west) - The east vs west thing still bugs me and is bound to pose problems as we continue to expand (in 2011 we'll have 18 teams - 10 of them will be "West") but we are slowly moving toward a single table format - and I think MLS will eventually abandon the whole East vs West thing. check out settingthetable.com for a look at our table in a single table format.”

“I agree with Hank from Boston if Khano is played in the position that gave him recognision, and he is comfortable and good at playing the position of forward striker he will perform and surprise a whole lot of people, you can't make a goat into a sheep, lets be fair play a person according to their abilities and pasions
then there is no stopping them, why is it that some people cannot accept some one else's accomplishments. I hope Khano does us proud, nad I hoe h will not be kept back from his pasion for Soccer and he is a forward/striker.”

    “Congratulations Khano Smith FYI
Khano is not an American, Bermuda is British, and by law he is to be treated as such, I was always told that if you do not know what you are talking about it is best to keep quiet, and not look like a fool, Goater did good and I am confident that Khano will do his best, and I know that his best is good
enough to get the job done, well done Khano, it takes courage and determination to accomplish what you have done so far. Good luck and blessings to you.”
