Big Arvo aiming to top £1,300 total
Another fundraising day of live music and entertainment for all ages has been arranged by Old Nicks Tavern in Horncastle for their eighth August Bank Holiday Sunday Big Arvo.
Landlady and one of the organisers of the event Sally Ellis said: "Once again it will be a family fun-packed event with an impressive band line up, a big raffle with a new bike as the star prize among many other donations, an all-day barbecue followed by a hog roast supplied by Graham Fidling.
"Also, as always, there will be good quality real ales featuring our very own brew called Big Arvo 8 brewed and supplied from Fulstow Brewery. Pippa Elton will be in attendance with her face painting skills for 'children' of all ages, together with Fraser 'Wizard' Parker showing off his amazing card trick skills during the afternoon."
Big Arvo 8 will once again be raising money for When You Wish Upon A Star, a local charity that grants wishes for terminally-ill children.

Sally says: "Last year's event was a massive success, given the economic climate, raising more than £1,300 on the day, which was put towards the final total of £2,635 that was raised by Old Nicks Tavern, its regulars and supporters during the last year.
"The bands appearing in this year's Big Arvo 8 have been selected so that only the cream of the crop will grace Old Nicks Tavern with their performances.
"This year sees the return of our very own Old Nicks Jam Band featuring many of the talented regulars that play at Old Nicks Jam Night held every Tuesday evening, followed by an up-and-coming talented young three-piece from Spalding, Gypsy Heart, with their brand of 70s style heavy rock.
"Keith Luckey will slow things down a bit with acoustic blues, Steel Threads, a duo, will play foot tapping folk rock on acoustic guitar and fiddle, and RadioActive Spiders will play a huge range of classy rock covers."
More live music will be provided by Jumpin' Jax and The Bar Flies performing rock in rockabilly style, The Almaboobies, another local rock band, and the Mick Rutherford Band playing their crunchy rock and blues.
Sally added: "They will blow everybody away with what will sure to be another polished performance.
"Come rain or shine this event will go ahead as it has done for the previous seven years."
