A MOTORCYCLIST airlifted to hospital after a road smash has died of his injuries.

The unnamed man was riding a silver Honda motorcycle when it collided with a blue Renault Megane on the A631 at South Elkington near Louth yesterday.

He is thought to be from the South Yorkshire area.

The female driver of the car was treated for shock.

This latest fatality brings the total number of people to have died on county roads so far this year to 17.
