Boiler breakdown closes gents' toilets
A public toilet in Lincoln is to be closed for two weeks – so a faulty boiler can be fixed.
The city-centre gents' has been padlocked shut since Tuesday last week.

And the City of Lincoln Council, which is responsible for public toilets, says it will be another two weeks before they re-open.
The loos, at High Bridge between the canal and the Waterside shopping centre, are usually open during shopping hours every day of the week.
But the boiler in the usually busy facility is out of action, meaning there is no hot water for cleaning hands or the toilets themselves, the council said. The age of the boiler also means parts are hard to get, it was added.
Shane Harrison, cleansing services officer from the council told the Echo yesterday: "A problem with the boiler in the High Bridge toilets has unfortunately meant that we have had to close the facilities for repair. They will be out of use for approximately two weeks."

“Whenever I've passed these grotty, outdated loos, I've sub-consciously held my breath, why?
When in town BHS, M&S have super clean toilets, that are checked regularly for cleanliness, no problems for either sex.”

“I agree with others that the men's toilets at High Bridge, St Peter at Arches and the Bus Stationn are very old, grotty and not nice for anyone to use the facilities and I think they are not very hygienic any way.The highe bridge and St Peter at Arches only have old little grotty blocks of soap, the floor is always wet and slippery and do they actually have warm water to wash your hands ? Plus I find them very nerving to visit and people that suffer with nerves the old and disable people theses toilets are very unsuitable for them. It's about time they were closed and replaced with betther facilities. Also while I am on the toilet subject why is it that many people that visit the toilet still do not wash their hands. I have noticed that it is mainly the older generation that walk straight out not washing their hands first. This distgusts me surely they should know better and the germs they spread is disgusting. It really gets me that the older generation call and criticize the younger generation when they are just as bad if not worse.”

“I would agree with both of you except for I thing. Toilets are down to the cash strapped city council and both of the things you mention are down to the county council”
