AN amateur dramatics group is preparing to take to the stage again, in its 50th anniversary year.

Skegness Theatre Arts Group Entertainers (STAGE) will present successful stage musical Boogie Nights 2 at the Embassy Theatre later this month. The show is set in the 1980s: a time when lipstick, eyeliner, big hair and spandex were all the rage.

Ten years have passed since the first show, Boogie Nights, and Roddy O'Neill, the guy whose story both shows focus on, is a little bit older although not much wiser by the look of things.

Played by male lead Stacey Gough, Roddy falls from a building and while hanging between life and death gets the chance to look back at his life.

Caroline Lacey from S.T.A.G.E. said: "It's a fantastic sing-a-long and is very lively with lots of dance numbers. We've got a really tight bunch of young people having an absolute ball.

"The show is packed full of 1980s tunes including I Will Survive, Feed the World, Eternal Flame, Thriller, Power of Love and many others."

Female lead Clare Allen plays Debs – Roddy's first love, supported by Kim Sands as Trish and Paul Fisher as Roddy's best friend Terry.

S.T.A.G.E, formerly the Co-op Arts Group, is celebrating its 50th year in 2012 and has received support from Duncan and Topliss and Grand Central in putting on the show.

On June 16, a flash mob will gather outside Beales on Lumley Road, Skegness at 12.30pm for around ten minutes. Anyone wanting to take part can watch the moves on the S.T.A.G.E. Facebook group and turn up on the day.
