Boston United were smashed 7-1 by a rampant Altrincham in Blue Square Bet North last night.

Having lost 6-1 at Moss Lane last season, the Pilgrims plunged to new depths against play-off chasing Alty.

The division's leading goalscorer Damian Reeves put the home side ahead before Boston levelled with Jordan Smith's first goal for the club.

But that was as good as it got for Graham Drury's side, who were outclassed in every departure.

Reeves struck again, there was a brace from Simon Richman and single strikes from Duncan Watmore, Scott Leather and Ryan Brooke.

To make matters worse for United, experienced defender Gary Silk was sent off in the closing stages.

Boston now sit 11th in the table and travel to county rivals Gainsborough on Saturday.
