BOSTON United Reserves continued their unblemished start to the season with victory in the top of the table clash with Lincoln United's second string.

Liam Ogden was their hero with the only goal of the game.

Sleaford Town Reserves extended their unbeaten start to the season when they picked up a point in a goalless draw at Horncastle, while two goals for Michael Musson helped 10-man Heckington United overcome Skegness Town at Burgh Road.

In the Challenge Cup there were wins for CGB Humbertherm, Hykeham Town, Ruston Sports and Swineshead Institute, who edged out Louth Town Reserves in a nine-goal thriller at The Causeway.

Boston United Reserves 1 Lincoln United Reserves 0

Liam Ogden proved to be the match winner as Boston United Reserves made it three straight Lincolnshire League wins.

The goal that separated the two sides came in the 35th minute when Ogden seized possession outside the visitors' penalty area and manoeuvred himself into a shooting position before delivering a firm 20-yard drive that buried itself into the bottom corner of the Lincoln net.

After the break Lincoln came back into the game, but, despite enjoying more possession and forcing a number of corners, they were unable to find the equaliser. The Pilgrims held onto the slender lead to record their third consecutive clean sheet.

Horncastle Town 0 Sleaford Town Reserves 0

Horncastle Town climbed to third in the table with this goalless draw against Sleaford's second string.

It was the visitors' second consecutive stalemate after opening their account with a home draw with Skegness.

Skegness Town 2 Heckington United 3

Two goals in the last four minutes gave Skegness hope against Heckington, who had defender Glen Robinson sent off.

Robinson's dismissal, after an off-the-ball incident, gifted the seasiders a lifeline and Sam Sleight gratefully slotted home the resultant penalty.

Brother Jamie Sleight made it 3-2 in the 89th minute as ten-man Heckington reorganised their defence.

Luke Hollingworth and Michael Musson had given the visitors a two-goal half-time lead, but skipper Andrew Collin fired a spot-kick wide of the target.

Town continued to miss their chances to get back into the game and Musson raced away to slot home United's third with 10 minutes left.

This seemed to knock the seasiders out of their stride, but they regained the initiative following Robinson's 86th-minute dismissal. Sadly for the home supporters it was too little too late.

Challenge Cup Swineshead Institute 5 Louth Town Reserves 4

Jack and Ben Houghton were again on target for Swineshead Institute, who knocked out Louth Town Reserves.

Robert Masters, Tim Tyler and Robert Snaith also found the net as the new boys continued their unbeaten start to life in the top flight.

Danny Warvill netted a brace for the White Wolves and there were goals for Louth's Jason Callaby and Robin Holderness.

Skellingthorpe PFC 0 Hykeham Town 5

Hykeham eased their way into the second round by beating local rivals Skellingthorpe, who are still looking for their first goal of the season.

Stuart Hanson scored twice and there were further goals from Paul Fragle, Glen Holbrook and James Cooper.

Grimsby Borough Reserves 1 CGB Humbertherm 5

The Therm shared out the goals as they romped home against local rivals Grimsby Borough Reserves.

Daniel Carter, Jack Stevens, Lee Syers, Jonah Simmons and Callum Day all notched, while Nufi Silas scored Borough's consolation.

Cleethorpes Town 2 Ruston Sports 3 (after extra time)

Ruston Sports had to come back from a two-goal deficit against ten-man Cleethorpes, who had Matthew Tofton sent off just before the break.

Tofton had a hand in both goals, scored by Neil Batts and Josh Sharp, but was dismissed for violent conduct following an off-the-ball incident.

Rustons took full advantage and reduced arrears early in the second half through a Steve John penalty.

Despite being a man down, the home side almost restored their two-goal lead when Mark Crow headed a Philip Hutchinson cross against a post.

At the other end Niall Forbes, Stuart Reddington and John all went close before Reddington headed home the equaliser. Into extra-time and John scored what proved to be the winner early in the first period.

Rustons' victory means they now entertain Horncastle Town in the quarter-finals.
