BOSTON-based re-enactors have been busy taking part in a movie which is now on sale in the town.

The Knights of Skirbeck's foray into the world of film began in May 2011 when they saw a request from a film director asking if any re-enactors would be interested in making a low budget, British film about gangsters and zombies.

The knights jumped at the chance to appear in Gangsters, Guns and Zombies as they are all fans of zombie movies.

Re-enactor Caroline Bedford and fellow knights were looking forward to the release of the movie, now on sale at Boston HMV.

She said: "After many emails and phone calls with the director Matt Mitchell, eight of us met up with the film crew and 'proper' actors at an owl sanctuary in Rutland on a warm, sunny, August day.

"We were taken to a clearing in the woods where we put on our medieval clothes and armour and lined up for our make up, no fancy dressing rooms for us.

"After lots of sitting around waiting it was our turn for stardom. We met up with the stars, who were all very friendly."

Some of the knights played small parts while others had bigger roles to play.

Caroline added: "One of our group, the first zombie to be killed, had to run straight at the camera, so that he could be shot in the head.

"All in all we had a great day and we were paid, in ale, 12 cans between us.

"Since then we've been eagerly awaiting the release of the DVD, which came out on January 7 so that we could watch the final result."
