Boston makes final of 'dullest dozen' towns in Britain
One of Lincolnshire's oldest communities is included in a new on-line poll to find the 'dullest' town in Britain.
Boston has been nominated in the final dozen of the 2013 version of the vote - organised by publishers of the controversial Crap Towns publication.
The annual book, which has secured cult status after residents of towns and cities across the UK made contact to agree with the criticisms, lists the 50 worst places in which to live.
"Our new poll asks which is the dullest town in Britain?," author Sam Jordison said.
"How you define 'dull' is up to you.
"It could be a question of nightlife, or lack of it.
"Or it could be a question of shops, or lack of them.
"It could be a question of architecture, or lack of it.
"And it could be a question of entertainment. You get the idea.
"But it could also be about the population, the council, the endless, endless roundabouts and traffic jams.
"It's hard to pinpoint exactly what makes things dull, but we all know what dull feels like.
"It feels like these places - Banbury, Boston, Bury St Edmunds, Burnham Market, Camberley, Chipping Norton, Fort William, Hatfield, Leamington Spa, Maidenhead, Rhyl and Thetford."
