Former Boston man aims to rebuild home in US ravaged by superstorm Sandy
A FORMER Boston man is appealing for help to raise money to repair his home in America that was damaged during Hurricane Sandy.
Stuart McEwing, 31, lived in Frampton before emigrating to New York in 2008 and then on to Long Island with his wife Amanda, 26.
They spent months doing their first home together up, only for it to be ruined by the hurricane.
Mr McEwing, who went to Kirton Primary School, Boston Grammar School and Boston College, works in IT for CCP Solutions in New York.

He said: “Like many on the South Shore we lost our home and cars during Sandy, we really want to try and be back in time for Christmas but we can't do it alone as we are having to now take extended time away from work to co-ordinate everything.
“It's going to cost us close to 150,000 dollars to repair everything that happened, please help us if you can even just a couple of bucks will help us out during this time.”
The couple claim that their insurance company has said they do not qualify for the hurricane surge cover and as they have no other form of flood insurance, they could up paying for the cost of the damage themselves.
Mr McEwing added: “We took on over one foot of water inside the house and lost the entire lower level of rooms – the den, laundry room, boiler room, office and Florida room.
“The boiler and hot water heater were destroyed, not to mention that the salt water got into the circuit box and electrical circuits and will likely mean that the house will require a rewire.”
The outside of the house was also damaged and will require new waterproofing, insulation and siding. On top of all this they also lost both of their cars to the storm.
