Boston pub supervisor removed from job after catalogue of violence and disorder incidents
A BOSTON pub supervisor has been removed from his position after a catalogue of criminal incidents were raised by police.
Boston Borough Council's licensing sub-committee decided that Muhammad Ikram Qutab, designated premises supervisor at The Red Cow Hotel, Wide Bargate, should not be allowed to continue in his role.
The premises will now have to appoint a new person to the position.
Police licensing officer, Inspector Rod Rose, said: "Despite these premises having operated for many years, police have only one recorded incident of violence/disorder at this location prior to the current licence holder taking over the premises licence.

"However, since November 2011, when Mr Qutab became both licence holder and designated premises supervisor, police have recorded 18 incidents linked with the premises."
The incidents recorded include allegations of glass-related violence and concerns for children at the premises over a seven month period. Many of the calls to police had been made by Mr Qutab when incidents at The Red Cow had occurred.
Mr Qutab told the hearing that he hadn't made any calls to the police since July 14 as he felt he was being targeted by the authorities and felt he should try to sort out any issues himself.
He said: "I feel it's helpless to call the police for help – it just makes problems."
Since the reported incidents, police have repeatedly visited the premises to advise Mr Qutab about crime prevention measures including installing a CCTV system which meets the authority's recommendations.
Inspector Rose said: "Mr Qutab denies responsibility for any of the issues at the premises and has declined a police offer of free polycarbonate to reduce the risk of glass related injury.
"He has also dismissed the suggestion of the necessity for door staff, stating they are too expensive. There is clear evidence that the licensing objectives are being seriously undermined at the premises."
Mr Qutab said that door staff were present on a Saturday evening from 8pm until 1am although this was questioned by sub-committee member Cllr Yvonne Gunter, who thought this was not sufficient as the premises were licensed to sell alcohol until 2am.
Further conditions have been applied to the premises licence by the committee including the use of polycarbonate glasses and improved CCTV.
Mr Qutab has 21 days from his notice to appeal the decision.

“The Taqiyah is very different to a kippah, covering the whole head while the latter only covers the 'crown', anybody with decent vision should be able to distinguise the two.
I'm not aware of the religous leanings of Mo's parents, if you could clarify how you know i would be interested to learn. However, i agree on the strangeness of the name choice if they were infact jewish.”

I think it is now you highlighting your lack of knowledge and sheer ignorance.
Muslims are also circumcised, which was banned in Cologne for a while, leading the Jewish and Muslim communities to unite in protest.
Muslims also wear a skull cap called the Taqiyah. Can you tell the difference?
I can have a really sick sense of humour at times, but that would pale into insignificance if Jewish parents have called their son after the Prophet.
As always, if I am proved wrong, I will hold my hands up and apologise.”
