Boston woman donates £500 to St Barnabas Hospice in husband's memory

A WOMAN from Boston has donated £500 to St Barnabas Hospice in memory of her husband.

Kay Taylor collected donations from her husband's funeral to pass on to the hospice that helped her through her time of need.

Mrs Taylor said: "I really don't know what I would have done without the wonderful nurses at St Barnabas Hospice in Green Lane.

"My husband, Dennis, was taken to Pilgrim Hospital's accident and emergency department suffering with bone cancer and I wasn't happy with the way he was treated.

"I was desperate to seek some guidance as I was told that he only had three to four months to live and that was when I decided to call in on the hospice."

From that day Kay cared for her husband at home but found it increasingly difficult as Dennis' condition worsened and crippled him with pain.

She added: "I really was at my wits' end as I wanted to care for him but seeing him in so much pain frightened and choked me.

"The St Barnabas Hospice Rapid Response Team helped me so much and even helped after Dennis' death with various paperwork.

"The girls at St Barnabas deserve all the credit they can get and I hope to remain a good friend of the hospice and continue to do bits and bobs for them where I can."

Acting team leader at St Barnabas Hospice, Carol Smith said she was extremely grateful with the donation as without them the Hospice would struggle to keep up its good work.
