Brian Little says the horror show performance of his Gainsborough Trinity players at Harrogate Town last month has been the catalyst for the Blues' current sensational run of form.

Maligned as underachievers for much of the season, Trinity's players have been inspired in recent games and produced an admirable display when defeating promotion-chasing Alfreton Town, 3-2, at the Northolme on Saturday in Blue Square North.

Manager Little takes his team to Ilkeston Town tonight (7.45pm) aiming to continue a run of improved displays which followed the now infamous 2-0 defeat in Yorkshire.

"Ilkeston is potentially a tough game for us," said Little.

"But I am convinced at the moment that we will put up a good show against anybody. The team are determined to do well.

"The biggest effect on us in recent weeks was the display and defeat against Harrogate – it really shook us up.

"You never want a performance like that but it actually turned out to be very important. In fact, we were still talking about it on Saturday.

"We've never had bad spirit in the dressing room but the lads are now really keen to get out of trouble sooner rather than later."
