British Superbikes: Two thirds and a last-lap crash for Alex Lowes at Oulton Park
Alex Lowes slipped to third in British Superbike standings following a dramatic triple-header at Oulton Park which produced three different winners.
Lowes picked up a solid third place in Saturday’s race as Milwaukee Yamaha’s James Ellison took victory ahead of championship leader Shane Byrne’s Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki.
The Lincoln rider was in the mix again during race two on Sunday before crashing out on the final lap. That allowed Samsung Honda team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari to take third behind winner Byrne and Tyco Suzuki’s Josh Brookes.
But Lowes salvaged another third place and 16 points in the final race of the weekend as Brookes took victory, just ahead of Byrne.
