Brown: My defensive partner Andrew Boyce can go all the way to the top
Nat Brown believes his central defensive partner Andrew Boyce has all the attributes to go all the way to the top.
The defensive duo have helped Gary Simpson’s side earn a reputation as one of the meanest defences in the Skrill Premier.
And with just four league defeats so far this season, the Lincoln City rear guard is certainly doing its job.
Seasoned campaigner Brown has had quite a few defensive partners and different clubs, but he says Boyce is right up there.
“Andrew Boyce is young still and he is still learning, but I think he can go all the way,” he said.
“I have played with quite a few young lads, while I have been here, the only one who was older has been Paul Morgan and what I can do is probably give the young players the benefit of my experience.
“Boycey has got everything, he reminds me of a young Nat Brown sometimes. He is good in the air and he’s quick as well. He’s got everything to play at the top, he’s strong as well so I wouldn’t be surprised to see him at the top.”
Brown (32) says as a defender he is always happy with a clean sheet, but would also like to see the goals flying in at the other end.
“I was pleased with the performance against Tamworth, but obviously I would prefer to have the win," he added.
"The last two games we have dropped four points. It’s good to keep a clean sheet and that but I want us to be up there, we need to be winning the games and we have to sort that out.
“Teams are coming here and sitting back and we have to find a way to break them. Sooner or later we will find it and good things will come. It’s good in a way to be known like that and see teams coming here and sitting back, teams go to Manchester United and sit back, so obviously they think we are up there as title contenders which is good.”
