The young victim of a racist bully in Lincolnshire says she will use her compensation money to launch an anti-bullying charity.

The 14-year-old female victim now plans to use the compensation and money paid to her for media interviews to set up her own anti-bullying charity – called Don't Hate or Discriminate.

The 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, bombarded the mixed race girl with racist taunts over a four-month period.

In what is thought to be an unprecedented conviction, magistrates also ordered the boy to complete a six-month supervision order and to carry out 10 hours of indirect reparation – the equivalent of community service.

Lincoln Magistrates' Court heard that the girl tried to kill herself with a concoction of stress pills and painkillers after the 15-year-old boy called her "wog, coon, gorilla, nigger and golliwog" again and again at a county school.

After taking the drugs, she left a note to her parents telling them that she did not want "a sad funeral."

Speaking to the Echo after the sentencing yesterday, the girl's mum spoke of her disappointment at the outcome.

"He's got off lightly really," she said. "It's just like he's been told he's a naughty boy and has got a slap on the wrist. When I thought about what my daughter went through, I had hoped he would be sent to a young offenders' institution."

The bully's parents were ordered to pay £300 towards the costs of the prosecution and complete a session with a parenting support worker.

The 15-year-old boy, who has also been permanently excluded from his school, was also given a six month supervision order and told to carry out 10 hours of indirect reparation – the equivalent of community service.
