Burch: I'm not going anywhere
Rob Burch has moved to ease the increasing anxiety that he is set to leave Lincoln City as the goalkeeper denied claims he told supporters his departure is imminent.
The former Tottenham stopper's future has been subject to much speculation in the last 72 hours amid reports he told fans he was quitting after Tuesday's 2-0 defeat at Hereford.

Lincoln City keeper Rob Burch.
But Burch today hit back at the gossipmongers who have fuelled a hive of activity on various internet message-boards declaring the rumours were "complete nonsense".
And the 26-year-old assured supporters he was not about to ditch the Imps and stressed he was fully concentrating on tomorrow's League Two trip to Chesterfield.
"I've heard what has been said, but there's absolutely no truth in it and it's complete nonsense," he said.
"It's amazing what people want to hear, but I can assure everybody that I would never say anything like that as the people who know me would testify.
"I did go over to the fans at the end of the game and I had a pair of gloves that were old and knew I would be replacing so I wanted to give them away.
"They had travelled a long way and it was not the best result or performance. So as I threw the gloves to the 10 to 15 fans who were still there, I just said 'I'm sorry'.
"All I did was apologise for the result nothing more so you can imagine I'm a little surprised at what's followed in the last couple of days because I'm not going anywhere."

“Isn't about time these websites were stopped spreading rumours just to get their hit counts up? Birch cannot go anywhere now until the summer when his contract expires as the transfer window is closed.”

“Burchy will be leaving...........................In 3 months time. 20 more games and he'll be off.
Where's all this reported interest from though? All these £300k bids from Leicester,Wigan, donny etc. I think we could survive without him,it's a decent striker we really need,or a decent striker to get decent service and be playing along side another decent striker.”

“With regard to Butcher, it depends what the payoff is? IF it barely sees his wages paid by the next couple of months then I think i would want to turn it down too as he has to eat and he is under contract!
However, if he is clearly not looking for another club or no offers are forthcoming it does appear he has no choice but to stay and do nothing.
Glad we are keeping Burch to the end fo the season tho, there were many strong reasons why we wouldnt see in February with him. He is one of the best L2 goalkeepers and there is a lot of interest building around him. I guess we have to be thankful for the remainder of the season with him, while it is clear that our league position hasnt helped force better clubs to move in on him yet. It is clear they all regard him as someone that is a perfect free signing, but that a goalkeeper in a struggling L2 outfit isnt worth spending big money on.”
