Campaigners bid for MP's Rio support
Campaigners have given a Lincolnshire MP a petition that asks for the UK to be at the head of a global environmental revolution.
The Transition Lincoln members met Lincoln's Karl McCartney on Saturday, June 9, to hand over the document.
They are one of many groups around the country to have approached their local MP ahead of the United Nations' Rio+20 conference, which begins on Wednesday, June 20.
World leaders will gather in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to discuss how they can reduce poverty within an environmentally sustainable model.

The Rio-UK Declaration says: "The UK should lead the world in the transition to a fair and green economy, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting biodiversity and creating jobs and opportunities to reduce poverty and inequality here and overseas."
Transition Lincoln member Geoff Stratford, 64, of Carlton Boulevard, said: "The science behind global warming is absolutely clear and it is vital we do something about it.
"It's an international process and the UK should play a part. "Politicians have got their heads in the sand and they need to be more open about the science."
