Car park to extend opening times while work continues at Lucy Tower Street
More than 100 car parking spaces will now be available in the evenings while ongoing maintenance work continues at a city car park.
Lucy Tower Street car park in Lincoln has been closed since March, with work not scheduled to finish until February.
But Lincolnshire County Council aims to ease the burden on evening visitors to the city centre by extending the hours of its own car park, at County Offices, Newland.
From Monday, October 14, there will be 122 spaces, and four for disabled drivers, available.
Evening parking will cost £2, with spaces available between 6pm and 2am on weekdays.
The move is thanks to a partnership between the county authority and City of Lincoln Council.
Kevin Kendall, chief property officer at Lincolnshire County Council, said: "With the Lucy Tower Street car park currently closed, this will give evening visitors a new option when coming into the city.
"We already make the car park available to the public at the weekends, and now, with the help of the city council, we will be opening it up on weekday evenings as well.
"Hopefully, this will bring benefits for the night-time economy on the Brayford and the surrounding area."
Access to the car park will be via West Parade or Orchard Street.
