Car smash pair walk free
A couple accused of killing two people in a 113mph car smash in Lincolnshire have walked free from court after their convictions were overturned.
Mary Butres (47) and John Nichols (58) had their convictions quashed at the High Court this morning after a judge ruled they were unsafe.
The pair, who were convicted of killing a young couple on the A1 near Grantham in a high speed smash in Butres' Jaguar, appealed after a jury member was overheard discussing the case on a tram in Nottingham.
They will now face a retrial.
