Celebrated Lincoln chippy batters rivals in UK competition
Burton Road Chippy in Lincoln has been recognised as one of the UK's best independent fish and chip restaurants.
The chip shop has made it through to the semi-finals of The National Fish and Chip Awards 2014, organised by Seafish, the organisation set up to support all sectors of the seafood industry.
The restaurant owned by Anastasios Anastasiou and Lesley Graves will now face off against 13 others from across the country for three places in the final, which will be held in London in January 2014. The finalists will be announced in September.
Owner, Mr Anastasiou, said: "We're delighted to have made the shortlist for this award. It really means a lot to us to have all our efforts recognised and I'd like to thank our team for all their hard work and dedication and our customers for their continued support. We continually look to keep our menu fresh by offering a variety of fish species and range of cooking methods which we think differentiates us from the crowd, but ultimately what keeps our loyal customers coming back is our friendly staff and relaxed environment."
