A CHARITY Zumba fitness session will be held in Skegness next week to raise money for a very special little girl.

Four-year-old Calli Cheetham was diagnosed with a brain tumour in May 2011 at the age of just three and spent several months in hospital receiving treatment.

Since returning home, her condition has stabilised and no longer needs to take oral chemotherapy treatment but she still finds it difficult to walk and communicates mostly by sign language because she finds it hard to talk.

Michelle Dunne runs Zumba classes at Grand Central in the town and when Calli became ill, her three elder sisters, Chelsey, Melissa and Katie, started to attend the classes.

Michelle said: "I know their Grandma and she started to bring the girls to Zumba.

"They used to really quietly come in and hardly moved their feet off the spot but we kept going and now they have been doing if for a while and are brilliant. It's really brought them out of their shells.

"We said we would like to do a Zumba session to help Calli and the whole family.

"I'm hoping we can raise money for them to do something nice together and hopefully even have a little holiday."

The event will take place on Friday, October 19, with the time to be confirmed. It is hoped that Calli will be well enough to attend the event and see everyone involved.

Michelle added: "I have done some sponsor forms for people to get sponsors or they can just make voluntary donations.

"I have a variety of Zumba teachers and they are all getting involved as well."

To get involved with the event, or just to make a donation to the fundraising effort, call Michelle on 07751 515774.
