SPALDING High School gained an overall 99.25 per cent pass

rate which was higher than the overall pass rate in the UK of

98.4 per cent.

A total of 134 girls sat their exams. Fifty six per cent

gaining at least five As, 18 per cent gained A*s and 35 per

cent gained As. Eighty three per cent of all students gained a

B grade or above.

Overwhelmed student Katie Wilson gained all Bs and Cs and

will study A-levels at Stamford College.

She picked up her results with her mother Julie who was also

really happy with the result.

Charlotte Wilson was also celebrating after gaining and A*

in English and four As and four Bs.

She said: "I am really, really happy with my grades. I plan

to stay on at sixth form to study my A-levels."

Headmaster Tim Clark told the Target: "These are the highest

grades the school has ever achieved and we are proud of all our

students. These really are a phenomenal set of results.

"The three top achievers at the school with all A*s were

Laura Biggadike, Hannah Pearce and Stephanie Burrell. It is

fantastic news that these three girls achieved A*s.

"There were also 11 other girls who achieved A* and As in

all their subjects.

"Only one girl did not get the Government's recommended five

A* to C grades, but she only just missed it.

"Even though the grades are great this year, they were also

good last year. The results have been consistent over the years

even though the results are much better this year than

last.

"The news comes just a week after students at the school

gained top marks in their A–levels, so it's fantastic all

round."

STAFF and students at Spalding Grammar School were also

celebrating the "best ever results" with 99.1 per cent of its

students gaining five A* to C grades in their GCSEs.

Highest achievers were:

Joe Harper – 13 A*s, Lewis Yates – 12A*, Ben Garner – 11 A*s

and two As, Oliver Brown 10 A*s and three As, Thomas Maxey –

nine A*s and four As. Richard Allen – eight A*s and five As,

Oliver Rayner – eight A*s and five As, Alex Spector – seven A*s

and six As, James Mayley – six A*s an seven As, William Turner

– six A*s and seven As and Tom Chatterton – five A*s and nine

As.

Straight A student Joe Harper gained 13 A* grades and will

stay on at the grammar school to study his A-levels in English

literature, French, Latin, history and maths.

He told the Target: "I am so pleased with my results. I was

expecting to get good results but I never thought they would be

this good. I am still in shock."

Joe plans to go to university after his A-levels to study

philosophy.

Tom Chatterton was also happy after gaining five A*s and

nine A grades.

He said: "My grades are better than I expected and I am so

happy with them. I plan to go to Welbeck College in Ludborough

to study engineering."

Overwhelmed Sam Rowell could not believe his luck when he

opened his results to find he had six A*s, five As and a B.

He said: "These results are great. I plan to stay at sixth

form and then go on to study languages at university."

High flyer Ben Garner will stay on at the sixth form after

gaining 11 A*s and two As. He will study geography, history,

English and economics and then study geography at university

after his A-levels.

Headteacher Nigel Ryan said: "The year 11 boys, their

parents and the staff can be justly proud of the excellent GCSE

achievements. Overall these are the school's best ever GCSE

results.

It is particularly pleasing to see so many students

achieving the top A* grades; with special congratulations to

Joe Harper for his 13 straight A* grades.

"It is also pleasing to see that the new triple science

course, which enables the boys to obtain full physics,

chemistry and biology GCSEs, has proved so successful, with

half of all science GCSE grades now being at A or A*.

"We look forward to welcoming this talented year group back

into our sixth form to help them continue their success through

to A–Level."

STUDENTS and staff at Sir John Gleed Technology School were

also celebrating.

Forty per cent of students achieved five A to C grades and

98 per cent of students gained five A to G GCSEs.

Happy Harry Barnett was pleased with his results, achieving

all Bs and a C. He will go on to study A-levels in PE, biology,

psychology and business studies.

He said: "The five years of hard work has paid off and I am

really pleased with my results."

George Berry received Bs and Cs. He told the Target: "I will

now go and study business media and travel and tourism at the

Robert Manning Sixth Form College."

Head teacher Geoff Cowley said the results were

"fantastic".

He said: "The students hard work has been justified by their

rewards. They have put in a lot of work in and this is shown

through their achievements.

"These results are the highest results we have had. The boys

all did really well, we are very proud and wish them all well

in the future."

There were also celebrations at The Gleed Girls' Technology

College with 100 per cent of students achieving one or more A

and 57.3 per cent gaining five A*s to C grade.

Chloe Addison achieved Bs, Cs and a D. She said: "I really

did not expect to get these results. I thought they'd be worse.

I must be brighter than what I thought I was.

"I now want to go to Boston College to study hairdressing

and hope to own my own salon."

Zoe Richard–Dawson gained Cs, Ds and an E and plans to go

into child care.

Emma Chamberlain achieved two Ds and Cs.

She said: "I am really relieved that the exams are over. I

started back at the school half way through the year and to

achieve these grades is great."

She will go on to study House Studies in Peterborough.

Headteacher Liz Shawhulme said: "The results are fantastic

for both the school and its students.

"Overall it's the best results the school has ever had. We

knew the students were predicted good grades but it was up to

them to revise and this has paid off. We are all very proud of

them."
