Chelsea pensioners to attend Poppy Prom in Sleaford
THIS year’s Poppy Prom will be made more special by the attendance of two Chelsea pensioners.
Tom Fraser and Ron Springfield, from the Royal Hospital, accepted an invitation to attend a weekend of events hosted by the RBL and RAF College Cranwell, including the Poppy Prom.
The Poppy Prom will take place at St Denys’ Church in Sleaford tonight at 7.30pm, and is held to launch the Sleaford and District branch of the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
It has been organised in conjunction with The Target and the Sleaford and District RBL with support from Lincolnshire Co-operative Funeral Services which offers its limousines for the evening.

“It is a particular honour for the branch and the people of Sleaford to join the old soldiers at the concert.”

Mr Springfield enlisted 56 years with the Royal Engineers and served extensively in Germany as well with the United Nations in Cyprus. He also served eight years in the territorial army.
