A rare goalkeeping error by Jan Budtz changed the complexion of Gainsborough Trinity's trip to league leders Chester last night, according to boss Steve Housham.

The Blues, fresh from their 2-1 second-leg victory against Wrexham on Saturday in the FA Trophy, started their Blue Square Bet North clash at the Exacta Stadium in fine form. The visitors rattled the Chester crossbar in the first ten minutes through former Chester striker Darryn Stamp. Trinity then took the lead when Craig Nelthorpe scored after 28 minutes. But it was down hill from then on as goals from Tony

Gray, Matty McGinn and Nathan Jarman ensured three points for the run-a-way league leaders.

"We started the game very well and took the lead," said Housham.

"The disappointing thing is Chester were not actually playing that well and we could have got something from the game, but then an uncharacteristic mistake from Jan Budtz gave them a goal and we seemed to feel sorry for ourselves.

"It changed the game. But I told the lads, Jan has kept us in games so often this season we have to remember that.

"I think there was a certain amount of mental tiredness on show, because the lads have been through a lot over the last week or two. Emotionally and physically it has been quite draining, but now we have to forget it and crack on with a winning performance on Saturday."

Trinity go from their away fixture against top of the table Chester to a trip to bottom club Hinckley this weekend, but Housham insists the danger is just as evident.

"If anyone thinks this will be a 'gimme' has another thing coming," he said. "Hinckley are a good, young side and they are fighting for everything. It will be a tough game and we have to be prepared for it."
