Chris organises a scuba do to clean-up the pool
A local diving school is planning a mammoth clean-up of Lincoln's Brayford Pool.
Members of scuba diving club Divenutz, based in the Lyndon Business Park in Farrier Road, have decided to take on the challenge after seeing the volume of rubbish from the fly-over bridge.
Around 25 people, including six divers in full scuba gear and wet-suits, will take part in the de-contamination on August 6.
The clean-up operation has been organised by trainee instructor Christopher Wilkinson.
"If you look down into the Brayford Pool from the fly-over bridge at the far end, all you can see is thinks like shopping trolleys, road signs, bikes and a whole hoard of other rubbish," said Mr Wilkinson, of Bailgate in Lincoln, who came up with the idea because he needed to plan an excursion as part of his dive master training.
"The clean up needs doing and we have the equipment, so I thought it was a good opportunity to fill out part of my course and help the local area."
The six divers will split into teams of two, with one tackling the area towards the Wigford Way bridge, one in the central area of the pool and one near the fly-over bridge.
They will each be supported by people on the banks who will haul out the rubbish as it is collected from the waterbed.
